1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of StatFas.com and the statistical calculators, charts, tutorials, resources and other content available on it (together, the “Service”). By opening or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of a school, university or organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for it.
2. What StatFas provides
StatFas offers free, browser-based tools for statistical analysis, including t-tests, ANOVA, regression, mediation and moderation, structural equation modeling (SEM), factor analysis, PCA, non-parametric tests and charts, together with tutorials and reporting guidance for students and researchers.
Analyses can be run without an account. A free account is needed only to download results. We may add, change, limit or remove tools, features and plans at any time.
3. Educational and research purpose
The Service is designed to support learning and research. It is not a substitute for professional statistical consulting, peer review, your supervisor’s guidance or your institution’s requirements. Nothing on the Service is legal, medical, financial or other professional advice, and results must not be used as the sole basis for clinical, regulatory, safety-critical or financial decisions.
4. Disclaimer: outputs are provided “as is”
Important. All statistical outputs, tables, charts, interpretations and reporting templates are provided “as is” and “as available” for educational and research purposes only. You are solely responsible for verifying the final calculations in your thesis, dissertation, manuscript or any other work before you submit, publish or rely on them.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, StatFas and its operators make no warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or error-free operation. In particular, we do not guarantee that:
- results will be free from errors, rounding differences or software defects, or will match the output of other software such as R, SPSS, Stata, SAS, Python or Excel in every case;
- a method you select is appropriate for your data, design or research question, or that its assumptions are met;
- outputs, APA 7-style examples or tutorials will satisfy the requirements of your institution, supervisor, examiner, journal or publisher.
Before you rely on any result, you are expected to check your data entry, confirm that the chosen method and options are suitable, and verify important figures independently, for example with a second statistical package, hand calculation, or review by your supervisor or a qualified statistician. Any decision to include a result in academic or professional work is yours alone.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, StatFas and its owners, operators, contributors and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, grades, academic standing, publication opportunities, research funding, profits, reputation or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service or its outputs, even if we have been told such loss is possible.
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid to use it in the twelve months before the claim, which for the free Service is zero. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you, and nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
6. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- the accuracy, legality and quality of the data you enter or upload, and for having the right and any required consent or ethics approval to analyze it;
- choosing appropriate methods, checking assumptions and interpreting results in context;
- following the academic-integrity, data-protection and research-ethics rules that apply to you, including rules on how analysis tools may be used and acknowledged in your work;
- keeping your device, browser and any account credentials secure.
7. Acceptable use policy
You agree to use the Service lawfully and fairly. You must not:
Scraping and automated access
- scrape, crawl, harvest or mine the Service, its tools, tutorials, results or user-facing content by bots, scripts or other automated means, except for ordinary search-engine indexing that respects our robots.txt file;
- copy, mirror, republish or resell substantial parts of the Service, or use it to build a competing product or dataset, without our written permission.
Overloading or disrupting the Service
- send excessive, automated or abusive volumes of requests, run load or stress tests, or otherwise place an unreasonable burden on our servers or infrastructure;
- attempt denial-of-service attacks, or interfere with the availability, security or performance of the Service or other users’ use of it;
- bypass or tamper with rate limits, usage counters, account limits or the one-device-at-a-time account rule, or share an account in a way that defeats them.
Malicious files and code
- upload, enter or transmit viruses, malware, ransomware, spyware, malicious scripts, macros, exploit code, or files designed to damage, disrupt or gain unauthorized access to any system;
- upload files that are unrelated to statistical analysis, or that exceed the size or format a tool accepts.
Other prohibited conduct
- probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service, or attempt to access accounts, data or systems that are not yours;
- reverse engineer, decompile or extract source code, except where applicable law expressly permits it;
- upload unlawful content, or personal or confidential data that you have no right to process;
- impersonate another person, misrepresent your affiliation, or misrepresent StatFas outputs as independently audited or certified.
If you find a security problem, please report it through our Contact Us page instead of exploiting it.
We may investigate suspected violations, remove content, block access, suspend or close accounts, and cooperate with authorities, without notice where we reasonably consider it necessary to protect the Service or its users.
8. Accounts
A free account is required only for features such as downloading results. You must provide accurate information, keep your credentials confidential and tell us promptly about any unauthorized use. For account security, an account is active on one device at a time, and signing in on a new device may sign out the previous one. You are responsible for activity under your account.
If you sign in through a third-party provider, that provider’s own terms and privacy practices also apply.
9. Your data and privacy
You keep ownership of the data you bring to the Service, and these Terms do not give us ownership of it. How we handle personal, account and usage information is explained in our Privacy Policy. Many tools perform their calculations in your browser, but you remain responsible for deciding whether it is appropriate to analyze sensitive or regulated data and for complying with the rules that apply to it.
10. Intellectual property
The Service, including its design, code, text, tutorials, graphics, logo and the StatFas name, is owned by StatFas or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service for your own personal, educational and research purposes in line with these Terms.
You may include results generated from your own data in your own theses, papers, reports and presentations. We would appreciate a citation of StatFas where your institution or journal allows it, but you must also describe your methods and software according to their requirements.
11. Third-party links and services
The Service may link to or rely on third-party websites, libraries and services. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, availability or practices.
12. Availability, changes and termination
We aim to keep the Service available but do not promise uninterrupted access, and we may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of it at any time. You may stop using the Service whenever you wish. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or if we need to protect the Service, its users or others.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including the disclaimer, limitation of liability, intellectual property and governing law sections, will continue to apply.
13. Indemnification
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless StatFas and its owners and operators from claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or content or data you submit in violation of the law or of someone else’s rights.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of StatFas is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts of that jurisdiction have jurisdiction over disputes, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have where you live. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and StatFas regarding the Service.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when they were last revised. If you keep using the Service after an update takes effect, you accept the revised Terms. For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to give notice on the site.
